Bad Credit Loans :: Sub-Prime Lending
Bad Credit Loans or sub prime lending is a growing area within the
British financial sector. In the North American financial market sub prime
lending grew tremendously in the early part of the 21st century. However,
following the failure of many borrowers to meet repayments when interest
rates rose, many of these loans have been defaulted upon. This has had
a knock-on effect in the housing market in America, which is less dependent
upon control and regulation than that in the UK. As a consequence prices
while still historically high have nonetheless fallen. There are a large
number of products available to those with bad credit that will help to
facilitate a repair of a credit rating. Pre-paid credit cards are one
example of such facilities available to those unable to obtain the mainstream
lending. Mail-order catalogues may be another alternative as they are
generally less strict in their requirements. It goes without saying that
it is fundamental that payments are kept up to date. If you have managed
to secure lending when your credit rating is poor you would be foolish
to risk your re-gained credit worthiness.
Houses for Sale
Obtaining a bad credit loan is easier if the borrower is a homeowner or
has other security with which to reassure the lender that the risk is acceptable.
Obtaining a mortgage in the sub prime market can be difficult and often
requires a hefty deposit before a loan will be made. If self-employed
as well, it can be almost impossible to obtain mortgage funding. Shared
equity or shared ownership schemes are becoming more popular in the UK,
however, the supply of housing within the shared ownership sector is far
too slow to meet demand, given the pressures on housing prices within the
UK economy.
Secured and Unsecured Loans, Refinancing and Bad Credit Loans
The Mortgage Mento says...
If you have had court judgements or credit defaults or mortgage arrears
or repossessed goods on hire purchase. You may find it very difficult
to get any credit in the UK. Even obtaining a bank account with a debit
card is difficult. It is possible to get basic bank accounts, but these
basically consist of a cash card and a cheque book. Most do not even allow
direct debits from the account. The situation has eased somewhat, of late
in the UK though, with the availability of prepaid credit cards. If you
are lucky enough to repair your credit rating under no circumstances should
you risk damaging it in the future. Obtain, for your family, mortgage protection
insurance, protected health-insurance, health-insurance, life-insurance
and work hard to maintain your income.
